Girls Weekend Getaway

Sometimes, a gal just has to get away from it all…and McCall has you covered!

Where to Stay

For the ultimate girl’s getaway, think about staying at historic Hotel McCall, located right in the heart of downtown. Enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub, schedule a spa treatment, fit in a workout in the fitness room and wine and dine Rupert’s Restaurant located inside the Hotel. An added bonus…the Hotel is walking distance to almost everywhere you want to be! Stay, Eat, Play!

Where to Eat & Drink

Start the day at the FoggLifter Café, serving up delicious cups of joe made from coffee beans freshly roasted in Troy, Idaho. The café has a vibrant atmosphere with an eclectic lounge area, internet access and a great menu for all tastes including wraps, bagels and cream cheese, freshly baked muffins, and our favorite, the eggs Benedict (go for the traditional preparation or one of the more colorful choices including the smoked salmon Benedict). FoggLifter is located just 1 block from Hotel McCall.

Lunch time leads you to the courtyard behind Hotel McCall where Bistro 45 beckons. Shaded by large canopy trees, and offering a community bocce court, enjoy good conversation, good wine and a light gourmet lunch. The Steamed Blue Mussels or Clams with a side of bread are to die for! Everything is mouth-wateringly delicious! The Baked Brie with Roasted Garlic (our favorite) pairs perfectly with just about any of the wines from Bistro’s extensive list. Order by the bottle or by the glass then sit back and share a toast with your girlfriends.

Rupert’s Restaurant is a must for dinner. Dine on the patio overlooking Payette Lake and enjoy the seasonal menu prepared by James Beard nominated Chef Gary Kucy. Rupert’s puts a focus on flavor with quality ingredients and a fondness toward ethnic flavors of the Southwest, Asia and the Mediterranean. Our recommendation? Start with the Cold Smoked Elk Carpaccio served with a decadent black truffle cheddar and huckleberry dressing. For the main course, choose from menu staples like the Rosemary Lamb Chops and Grilled Idaho Trout or opt for the daily special…you won’t be disappointed with either decision! Save room for dessert – all made in house and usually with a special recipe from Chef Gary’s wife who happens to own Stacey Cakes down the road!

What to Do

Start your day in Ponderosa State Park for a brisk morning hike. Trail maps are available at the Visitor’s Center.  The Lily Marsh trail is our favorite (although every trails leads somewhere stunning). The Lily Marsh trail takes you over a wooden footbridge and through the pines and the bright yellow faces of the lilies to a quiet and peaceful cove. Back at the car, don’t miss the opportunity to drive out to the Narrows and Osprey Lookouts for a breathtaking panorama of the lake…a photo opportunity not to be missed!

If shopping is your thing, take a look at our Shopaholic Itinerary for every must-hit shop and boutique in McCall.

If you and your ladies like to speed things up a bit, take advantage of Payette Lake! Hop on a rented jet ski from Cheap Thrills Rentals. They also rent pontoon boats and ski boats with all equipment included, and everything is delivered right to the beach at Mile High Marina. You can also rent watercraft from the Marina, and after you speed through the water, enjoy the lakeside patio grill at Mile High with a full liquor license, live music and happy hour. The fish tacos are wonderful!
Take some time to rest up after your adventurous day before hitting the town for nightlife, music and dancing at The Yacht Club or Forester’s Doghouse Saloon (or both!). Prompt Taxi will make sure you get home safely (call 208 630 3065).
