Do you want to experience the Great American Solar Eclipse without fighting the throng of people surging toward totality? We’ve got a great option for you. While the Brundage Mountain summit is about 16 miles outside the totality area, it offers a unique (and less-crowded) view of this once-in-a-lifetime event. As the Moon’s shadow crosses into Idaho over the Snake River, the eclipse will traverse over mountainous terrain. Idaho will be a desirable state to view the eclipse because of good weather prospects. If the weather on eclipse day is good, mountaintop locations such as the top of Brundage Mountain will offer a unique and memorable perspective on this amazing event. Brundage Mountain is not in the totality zone, but it is in the 99% maximum eclipse zone, which means more than 99% of the sun will be covered by the moon. The eclipse will peak here between 11:27 and 11:28 am.
